Torrington, the largest community in Litchfield County, is enjoying a strong revitalization of its downtown and retail shopping districts.

The town of Torrington is located in Litchfield County and was settled in 1735 and has a population of over 36,000. Torrington was considered the industrial hub of northwestern Connecticut and has evolved to include an eclectic mix of shopping, dining and entertainment options. The downtown area of Torrington is a carefully preserved cultural center. The Warner Theatre, an art-deco theater that opened in 1931 as a first-run movie palace by Warner Brothers Studios, is now home to The Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, where it trains world-class ballet dancers. Torrington is also home to Burr Pond State Park, a popular outdoor recreation area. The scenic Naugatuck River runs through the town. KidsPlay Museum, a place where children can learn with hands-on multi-sensory activities, is also located in town. Torrington is conveniently located near Connecticut Route 8 offering easy access to other major highways in the state. Torrington has many thrilling cultural and seasonal activities. Two weeks before the Christmas holiday, there is an enchanting Christmas Village open to the public at no cost. A Summer Arts Festival is hosted every year for a week. Students can attend one of five elementary schools, and continue on to the middle and high schools, where the district offers a full assortment of services for all grades. Oliver Wolcott Technical High School, a vocational technical school, serves students from surrounding towns.
