The town of Avon, Connecticut is located in the Farmington Valley. A small-town suburb, Avon embodies a picturesque New England village.
It is in close proximity to Hartford (about 20 minutes), and has a population of over 18,000. In 2005, Avon was named the third-safest town in America by Money Magazine. Avon is well-known as being the home to Avon Old Farms School, a prestigious boarding school. Avon has several parks including Fischer Meadows, Countryside Park and Sycamore Hills Recreation Area. The Farmington Valley Greenway and Farmington River are partially located in Avon and offer opportunities for biking, hiking and boating. There are many small shops, boutiques and popular restaurants located in Old Avon Village and along route 44. Avon has a high-performing school system with two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and several private schools.
